As some of you might already know, Toyota is currently very busy with the relocation of its Unites States headquarters to Piano, Texas, on the edge of Dallas. It’s a very big move for the company, and, of course, a huge deal for the state of Texas. To us, simple folks who just love to drive amazing cars, this news might not seem very exciting. I mean, if you don’t work/know somebody who does for Toyota or happen to live in the area, it doesn’t really matter much to you. However, the Japanese had something truly amazing to show at the exhibition of the new campus.
The Hero Of My Childhood Dreams
What you’re witnessing on the pictures is a mash-up of every cool childhood dreams you’ve ever had – we’ve never seen something like this before, and it looks like a demon lovechild of the Sienna and the legendary Tacoma mid-size truck. I mean, come on, don’t tell me you’re not super excited for this! It’s waaaaay cooler than anything else on the market these days! Folks around the web started calling it a hybrid, a crossover, but those definitions are not really true to this particular beast.
Toyota’s Ultimate Utility Vehicle (UUV)
It’s positioned as the company’s ultimate Utility Vehicle, and – as I just said – looks and feels like a combination of Toyota’s famous minivan with the Tacoma. Obviously, it doesn’t stop there. You can see that it’s been beefed up and is packed with SWAT-like bumpers, wheels, mighty side sills, Army-like lighting, a cool matte black finish, tinted windows and so much more. So, yeah, this bad-boy is nothing like the amazing but not-that-exciting Sienna, which has always been a car for the family. Gotta admit: I – like many guys all around the globe – would never think that a minivan, even completely redesigned, could ever become something cool, badass, and sexy. Well, I’m happy to be wrong!
Toyota says this monster of a car will be properly showcased at the SEMA later this year. However, I for one have seen enough to not really care about the SEMA and already start counting days for the release date. By the way, it’s gonna debut on the road at the Ever-Better Expedition that Toyota’s got going on for some time now.
The North American part of the expedition will have 140 Toyota employees crisscrossing the US and Canada for 16,5K miles! Prototypes like this rarely get approved for production, so, the UUV (yep, that’s what they’re calling it) is pretty lucky. Thanks to CEO of Toyota Akio Toyoda for getting me excited like never before! Hit me back in the comments and tell us what you think about this gigantic new treat from Toyota.
