The Prius C’s price tag starts at about $20K. The basic edition comes packed with a center-mounted touchscreen-display, automatic climate control, power accessories and Bluetooth/USB connections. Higher trim levels offer features, such as remote keyless entry/ignition, a navigation system, cruise control, heating for the seats, alloy wheels, and plus, you can replace the standard touchscreen with a bigger one. In addition, a power sunroof is available on the upper trims.
The good-old classic Prius can be yours for around $25K – that’s the starting price. The basic features include keyless ignition/entry, Bluetooth/USB connections, cruise control, automatic climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels, a rear wiper (pretty useful), and a large touchscreen. So, that’s more than the standard Prius C can provide. As for the higher trims, you’ll get a rearview camera, automatic headlights, a navigation system, a JBL sound system, and 17-inch alloy wheels. If you’ve got a few spare bucks to spend, and are really into safety gadgets, then there’s a big list of available features, such as a lane-departure alert system, adaptive cruise control, a precollision warning system, a head-up display, and much more.
The Big Brother
The final contestant – Prius V – has a basic price of $27,5K. The standard and optional features basically copy those of the classic Prius; still, the “V” can also be packed with an automated parallel-parking system. By the way, the optional third-row seating, that’s offered in Toyota’s homeland, Japan, isn’t available in the States. That’s a very bad marketing “strategy” from the company, as countless families in America would love to have that extra seating for their kids. The reason for such a thoughtless move has not yet been disclosed.
So, in sum, there’s no immediate winner in this matter of the Toyota Prius vs Prius V vs Prius C competition. Each one of the 3 models is made for a certain market and feels amazing with their standings. It’s just a matter of personal taste. If you want a low-budget, but still a very appealing model, then you should go with the Prius C – it’s a very solid choice. If you wanna go with the golden middle, then the standard Prius is the one for you. And finally, if you’ve got a big family with lots of stuff to fit in the trunk – pick the Prius V.
