Hey there, guys, grab a seat and get closer. Today I wanna shed some light on a very specific subject – the towing capacity Toyota Tacoma provides. The thing is, when people buy trucks (Mid-Size or Full-Size), one of the critical factors is the towing might. I mean, if you’re looking to buy a truck, it might as well be strong enough to carry the weight, right?
Toyota’s flagship Mid-Size truck, Tacoma, is never really shy to show its muscles. This fella has been one of the strongest out there on the market, and, with the 2016 edition release, it might just get even mightier. The current, 2015 edition, is capable of some serious power, has great towing capabilities, and a high fuel-efficiency index – for a truck, that is. Plus, the Tacoma is famous for its off-road supremacy.
The Heart Of The Beast
Our main focus today is gonna be on the towing capacity Toyota Tacoma provides – we’ll see, how this beast performs under pressure. But, before we get into that, let me just tell you a thing or two about the engines: the Japanese manufacturer builds one of the best V6 engines on the market – the 4.0-lit monster is powerful, and yet very smooth. However, The standard engine for the 2015 edition is the 2.7 4-cyl – it’s capable of 159HP and 180 pound-ft of torque.
That’s kinda casual, guys – if you wanna get the real deal, and open up the Tacoma’s full potential, I suggest you get that 4-lit. With it, you’ll get 236HP, and 266 of torque. Needless to say, that the V-6 has a lot more power for towing and hauling, and not a lot of penalty in terms of fuel-efficiency.
The Towing Capacity Toyota Tacoma Provides – The Field Report
The official statement claims that the 2015 Toyota Tacoma is capable of towing up to 6,500 pounds. Pretty impressive, huh? I had no reason not to believe what the Japanese say, but, you know me – I still like to do my own research. So, I paid a visit to my high-school friend Greg and his family (we’re still very tight), who owns a 2015 Tacoma, and asked him, and his adorable little girls about the truck’s towing might.
Greg has a big-bad trailer, and he and his family like to travel a lot. And they have only the kindest words for the Tacoma. The trailer (fully stuffed) weights about 6000 lbs, and Tacoma easily handles the towing – hassle-free, and trouble-free. Greg tells me he gets about 10-12 mpg, depending on the road – that’s pretty fair, I believe. I was lucky enough to travel with my friends in the truck itself, as well as in the trailer – it was a blast, I had a great time! So, don’t you guys worry about the towing capacity Toyota Tacoma provides – you’ll get plenty.
