What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the word “exotic”? Jungle tribes? Persian rugs? Asian women? Well, not quite: today we’ll talk about exotic cars, you know, the ones that prove the theory that looks can kill. They’ve got gorgeous designs, once-in-a-lifetime techy features and equipment, mighty, roaring engines that will make you believe in flying and, of course, ridiculous price-tags. Come on, we all love to watch supercars do their thing on the road. We even buy tickets and attend all kinds of auto shows to see these lovely creatures of metal first-hand. Yep, we’re auto fans, and the future is shaping up to be really awesome for all the gearheads out there (me included). Aha, next year will be rich in terms of supercars and hyper cars, and that’s why I decided to compile a list of the best exotic cars for 2017 for ya’ll to enjoy and look forward to. Thankfully, they’re not all ridiculously priced, so, who knows, maybe you’ll even get to purchase yourself a gorgeous exotic car sometime in the not so distant future. You ready? Let’s roll!
#1 – The Lamborghini Asterion
If the Germans are the acknowledged kings and queens of sports cars, the Italians are the leaders of the pack when it comes to supercars. And Lambo, being one of the most popular and most recognizable automobile manufacturers out there, is definitely a top dog. The Lamborghini Asterion was first introduced two years ago, at the Paris Motor Show 2014 as a hybrid GT conceptual car with two seats only. The codename was LPI 910-4, if that means something to you. The engineers claimed this new beast was good for 896 Horsepower, thanks to the deadly combination of the brand’s trademark 5.2-lit FSI V10 engine and 3 electric motors under that hood. Unfortunately, even today, in 2016, the officials at Lambo are silent and refuse to share any new details about the promising Asterion. So, honestly, I’m not even sure that they will give it the green light. However, there is some hope, and here’s why: first of all, as mighty as Lamborghini might be right now, they’re still missing an off-the-charts monster that could rival the LaFerrari or the 918, and that V10 with 3 electrics will get the job done. On the other hand, they might roll back a bit, switch the powertrain with a turbo V8 (or even a V6) with 1/2 electric motors and fight with the Ferrari California. Either way, the Asterion is definitely one of the best exotic cars for 2017.
#2 – The Chevrolet Corvette Zora ZR1
General Motors, the big boss of Chevrolet, is out for some quality hunting. They’re aiming at the thick wallets of the most fortunate with the upcoming next-generation Corvette, the mighty-mighty C8. Car & Driver reported a while back that the team behind the model is prepping it for a surgery that will switch it to a mid-engine powertrain. The officials never denied that, however, they still need to confirm it in the nearest future. This will be huge for the Corvette, but it’s about time for something brand-new if you ask me. As for the Chevy Corvette Zora ZR1, the critics believe it’s gonna be the flagship, the leader and the spearhead of the new gen and is slated for a late 2016/early 2017 release date. I for one would really love to see the legendary American speedster reintroduce itself next year. As for the powertrain specs, it’s more than likely the ZR1 will come packed with a supercharged V8 (small block, of course) that could very well be stronger than the upcoming Hellcat with that 707 HP-strong V8. Sources tell the starting price-tag will be around 150K and the company will build 1500K units per year, which is more than enough for me :).
The Best Exotic Cars For 2017 – #3, The Maserati Alfieri
Maserati, yet another big-bad giant in the world of supercars, introduced the Alfieri conceptual prototype back in 2014 (aha, much like Lambo with their Asterion). First things first, this two+two coupe looks like it’s from the future, especially in that dark asphalt paint you see on the pics. So, as far as the best Exotic cars for 2017 go, this one is definitely the most exotic one. And it’s got its priorities straight right from the beginning: the Alfrieri (that’s the name of one of the founding Maserati Brothers, by the way) is set out to rival with the Jaguar F-Type, the Porsche 911 and the Mercedes AMG-GT. That’s quite a competition, I know, but Maserati has always been one to fight only with the leaders of the pack. The entry-level powertrain will feature a twin-turbo 3.0-lit V6 that’s good for 410 (the same unit is used in the brand’s Ghibli and Quattroporte models). But that’s not all: there will also be a 450 HP-strong and a 520 HP-strong configuration available. Oh, and yes, a convertible edition is well on its way. As for the price-tag, expect it to be around 100K.
#4 – The Ford GT
The Ford GT seems to be in every list of the most anticipated future releases, and that’s not a marketing campaign from the Blue Oval Brand, trust me on that. The GT is a living legend in the automobile industry and the officially confirmed comeback just makes you wanna nod your head and smile like a stupid person. So, the list of the best exotic cars for 2017 simply can’t be complete without it. Besides, the brand-new Ford GT is built from the ground up with all the latest tech, so, don’t you worry about performance and design: the aerodynamics are in the center of attention, and every little curve, no matter how sleek and sexy, has only one purpose – to add to the car’s performance. Tell me you don’t want to see it parked in your garage tomorrow morning? The design is exceptional, too: the team behind the next generation tried its best to keep the soul of the 5 decades-old legend alive in this futuristic new body. The estimated weight is 2800 lbs and that allows for improved handling and acceleration. The car will come equipped with a twin-turbo 3.5-lit V6 that’s capable of 650HP and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Aha, it’s going to be truly awesome – that’s why folks are cheering for it like crazy, even though it’s not even available yet. But it will be pretty soon: late 2016 or early 2017 with a price-tag of 400K.
The Best Exotic Cars For 2017 – #5, The Bugatti Chiron
The Germans, the Italians, the Brits…don’t forget about the French! Yep, Bugatti is a French company, born and raised. And the upcoming Chiron is about to make buzz and noise of epic proportions. The Veyron Super Sport, which is capable of reaching a top speed of 258 miles per hour, is leaving the business, but it’s still the fastest production car in the world. However, the successor is all about beating that record and becoming the new sheriff in town late 2016/early 2017. So, what does it take to name yourself the fastest these days? Let’s check what the Chiron hides under the hood: I’m not really sure about the engine, but I do know that it will scorch the asphalt with 1480 Horsepower and 1180 pound-feet of torque. The max speed is promised to be 288MPH (that’s 463 km/h!), with the 0-to-60 jump in less than 2.5 seconds. This monster-of-a-supercar was officially introduced at the Geneva Motor Show and we learned that it will come with a hefty price tag of 2.4 million Euros (that’s 2.7 million US dollars) and there will only be 500 units made. Alright, that was the list of the best exotic cars for 2017. I hope you liked my picks and had a good time. See ya!
