Let me ask you a question: what do you know about friendly Canada? Québec and Toronto? Maple and snow? Celine Dion, Drake and Justin Bieber? Yes, that IS a big part of the country, the musical, cultural and natural sides of Canada. But what about cars – do they care about awesome cars just as much as we do, or is it strictly American kind of fun? To be honest, even though I’m a big fan of Auto Shows and like to keep my hand on everything buzz-worthy in the industry, the Canadian shows always seemed like a bit of a miss to be. However, the latest one shock me with the impressive line-up of steaming hot supercars, and that’s why I decided to tell you guys about the best cars at the 2016 Montreal Auto Show. MIAS housed a lot of class-leading talent this year, including several sports cars, exotic cars, and, of course, super cars – the fun stuff. Buckle up, fellas, the ride is bumpy.
The Finest Things In Life – Supercars And Good Music
The event took place at the fashionable Palais des Congrès de Montréal in Québec and all the big-time majors in the game came to visit bearing gifts. You had Toyota, Nissan, Ford, General Motors, Chevy, Land Rover and the rest of the bunch with their latest models trying to catch the customer’s attention. But today we’re not here to talk about the average stuff – you know, the new Prius, the new Volt, the new minivans and middle-class sedans…No, we’re all about the good things in life, the expensive, luxurious, jaw-dropping and breath-taking models. And there was a lot of that in Canada back in January. The best cars at the 2016 Montreal Auto Show include 2 new Lamborghini studs, the latest McLaren, the sexiest Ferrari to date and a couple of other entries. So, you ready to feel that chill Québec air in your lungs and talk about supercars? I bet you are! Put your favorite Nickelback CD on and let’s roll. Oh, you’re a fan of Bryan Adams and Avril Lavigne? Hey, that’s cool too, bro!
#1 – The Ferrari 488 GTB
Alright, I’ll admit it – the Canadians are sometimes slow when it comes to world premieres of gorgeous supercars. Blame it on the geographic conditions. For example, the drop-dead killer 488 GTB by Ferrari was unveiled by the Italians back in 2015. However, that doesn’t mean that folks weren’t excited about it at the MIAS, because they were seeing it first-hand for the first time. And when it comes to a Ferrari supercar, there’s a lot to see and to “digest”, if you know what I mean: the race track-friendly speedster comes equipped with a turbocharged 3.9-lit V8 engine that’s pumping out 661 Horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque, which is quite impressive – by any standards. As for acceleration, the GTB flies from zero to 60MPH in 3 swift seconds, while max speed is 205+ miles per hour. The original 488 was designed with some top-grade engineering and downforce was increased by 50 percent as compared to the previous edition – the 458. The aerodynamics is superb, adding to the car’s all-about-speed agenda. So, even though it’s kinda old news, the Ferrari 488 GTB was definitely one of the best cars at the 2016 Montreal Auto Show.
#2 – The McLaren 570S
Every time I talk (or write) about the latest McLaren love-child I get hyped up and excited. McLaren Automotive, one of UK’s finest, rarely disappoints, so, if they say they’ve got a new rider in town that means the market of luxury-level supercars is about to get a healthy kick up the butt. And the 570S is a 100% go-getter, a hustler, if you will. Unbelievably hot on the outside and extremely luxurious on the inside, it’s rivaling the best in the game – Porsche’s 911 Turbo and Audi’s R8. The new McLaren is powered by a 3.8-lit V8 engine that’s good for 562 Horsepower and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. This hot-head is a race-track performer by nature – that’s its birthright. You got it jumping from nil to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds with a max speed of 204 miles per hour. True, that’s just a little bit slower than the 488 GTB, but, nevertheless, McLaren has given the world yet another masterpiece. As far as supercars go, the 570S is as “Super” as it gets. If Flash was rich enough to own a steel-horse-of-a-speedster, I bet we would go with this one. The price, by the way, is not really that ridiculous: 143 UK pounds, which is around 180K US dollars.
The Best Cars At The 2016 Montreal Auto Show – #3, The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder
Lambo was kind enough to visit Canada not with one, but with two sexy models. The first one, the Huracan Spyder, caught everybody’s attention with that futuristic design and flashy green seats and brakes. I never thought I would say this, but bright green looks amazing with dark grey! So, a new Lamborghini is enough information to get you all excited, but the Spyder is not about just being the next Italian stud – it’s living up to the hype: first of all, it’s a convertible. Second, it comes packed with a 5.2-lit V10 engine that puts out 610HP. The transmission is, again, a 7-speed dual-clutch. With a zero to 60MPH sprint in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 201 miles per hour I believe we’ve got another winner on our hands. By the way, the Huracan Spyder can drop that top in 17 seconds, even if you’re still driving at 30MPH. How cool is that?! By the way, the friendly Huracan LP 610-4 Coupé was featured in the XBOX-One video game Forza Horizon 2 as the star of the show.
#4 – The Lamborghini Aventador SV
Aha, that’s the second Lamborghini supercar the Canadians enjoyed at the MIAS. The Aventador SV is all about being the best on the race-track. This sexy little thing is powered by a mighty-mighty 6.5-lit V12 engine that’s making all the animals in the block run for their lives with almost class-leading 740 Horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque. This kind of powertrain takes the Aventador SV from rest to 62 miles in 2.8 seconds, while top speed is over 217MPH. I don’t even think I gotta tell you about the Lambo-exclusive luxury in the interior with the latest techy toys for you to enjoy and the aerodynamic wonders the team has been working on for improved performance. That’s just another day at the office for the Italian manufacturer. If you ever get lucky enough to win a big-time lottery, I strongly recommend you to consider investing that money into at least one of the two Lambo cars. Because both the Huracan Spyder and the Aventador SV are one of the best cars at the 2016 Montreal Auto Show. Or, better yet, why not purchase both, while you’re at it?
The Best Cars At The 2016 Montreal Auto Show – #5, The Audi S8 Plus
I know, it’s a bit strange to see this somewhat old-school-looking sedan among the elite supercars, but this premium-class Audi stud is all about that performance, trust me: under the hood you’ll find a tweaked 4.0-lit V8Turbo (the TFSI) that can rival all the mighty sprinters any time of the day with 605 horses and 553 pound-feet of torque at its disposal. The engine is paired to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission and goes from zero to 60 you-know-what in 3.8 seconds, which is like the best time ever for a four-door sedan. That’s achieved partially thanks to the aluminum frame that helped the S8 Plus to drop a couple of those nagging pounds along the way. Alright, that’s it for the list of the best cars at the 2016 Montreal Auto Show. For a nice, cozy and no-that-eventful Québec the MIAS packs a mean punch for all the supercar fans all around the globe. True, the Canadians do like to lag behind a bit, but they still had an incredible line-up. Thumbs up and Kudos!
