Aha, it’s that time of the year when we sit back in our cozy seats, make ourselves a cup of hot tea/coffee (or something stronger) and talk about ridiculously expensive supercars that we’ll probably never get to drive. It’s still fun, though. Besides, who says we can’t be like the next guy and win a lottery, invent a social media app or become one of the best traders in the world? Either way, we, the humans, love to discuss everything that stands out and attracts attention, and nothing can do that better than a drop-dead gorgeous European speedster, am I right? So, today we’ll talk about 5 supercars worth more than a million (that’s US dollars). Yep, only the good stuff, nothing average and/or routine like the Toyota Sienna your neighbor is driving with his family or your old Ford Focus/Honda Civic. This is called admiring from a far – it’s legal, enjoyable and can make you feel better about yourself if you’re in a bad mood or just had a tough day at work. Trust me, this will cheer you up in no time.
Mighty Engines, Sexy Designs And Steep Price-Tags
The definition of the word “supercar” means that the vehicle has to have an awesome, futuristic, sporty and race track-friendly design, exceptional styling, a luxury-level interior with all the latest tech, and, of course, a super-strong powertrain under that sleek and sharp hood. 500, 600, 700, or even 1000 Horses are nothing compared to the best of the best. You’ve got impressive torque, too, along with a fine-tuned suspension and chassis. I have to say that despite the fact that these babies cost a fortune, there is a certain circle of super-reach folks (rappers, singers, athletes, movie stars, you name it) who can and do afford all the greatest things in this world, and luxury cars are just a part of their daily routine. And that’s the potential clientele for the manufacturers. Alright, let me just stop there and tell you about 5 supercars worth more than a million, deal? Because I can go on for days!
#1 – The Lamborghini Reventon
There’s an old saying claiming that a true Lambo car must be worth about a million bucks and be a superior beast on the road. And the Reventon is just up that alley. Back in the day, when the Murcielago was the hottest ride on the block, everybody had the hots for her and she was only “accessible” if you were from the elite. However, as time passed, it seems like half the celebrity world owns a Murci, so, that’s when Lamborghini rolled out the Reventon, the better version of the outdated queen. It’s worth 1.1 million and will most certainly give you the kicks on the streets of your hood (the good kind). The car looks and feels like the good-old Murcielago had a demon love child with a jet plane of something. The exterior design is out of this world, the engineers themselves call it “a masterpiece”. In terms of powertrain it’s pretty much the same as the LP640 (maybe just a bit stronger). Still, it’s a rare breed, as the company released only 20 Reventons to date, so, the circle just got smaller once again. Of the 5 supercars worth more than a million this Lambo is probably the most popular one.
#2 – The Ferrari LaFerrari
Alright, the Italians know how to make gorgeous, one-in-a-million and super-expensive cars, I admit it. The LaFerrari had a lot of controversy about its funky name at the release date, but it’s no joke: it’s worth 1.4 million dollars and, as soon as the smoke cleared, folks were amazed by the astonishing performance capabilities of this red hustler. Ferrari doesn’t kid around with their hypercars, and this one is no exception. The LaFerrari comes packed with a hybrid powertrain (aha, you heard me) that’s good for a combined output of 950 Horsepower. The 789 Horses come from the naturally-aspirated 6.3-lit V8; the remaining 161HP come from the KERS system, the HY-KERS. And when it comes down to design and architecture, you already know that Ferrari delivers. Mr. Maranello’s F1 team inspired the car’s construction platform and design, with a unique carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, manufactured by Rory Byrne, a Formula One technical director. So, at the end of the day, the LaFerrari definitely makes the list of 5 supercars worth more than a million. And not just for the price-tag – it has a lot to offer. If you’re got that kind of money lying around, that is.
5 Supercars Worth More Than A Million – #3, The Pagani Zonda Revolucion
The Zonda Revolucion (with the “o” accentuated) from Pagani is worth 3 million dollars. I just wanted to get that out of the way so we could talk about the features. It comes packed with an 800 Horses-strong engine, a 2-way DRS system and, on top of that, it’s signed by the man himself – Horatio Pagani. The Revolucion is high on every supercars list simply because it’s one of the best offers on the market of hypers and is a constant guest in gearheads’ dreams. Overall, there were only FIVE units built, so, that partially explains the steep price-tag: people just love owning something that only a chosen few can afford to own. I bet the whole bunch was delivered to previous Pagani fans, too. By the way, Mr. Pagani himself said once that they had to make the brand-new Revolution truly astonishing, exciting and uplifting to keep up with the big name. Come on, just take a look at the pics – ain’t it unapologetically gorgeous? Now imagine what those lucky 5 felt when they had the car delivered to them.
#4 – The McLaren F1
Back in 1992, the McLaren F1 had a starting price-tag of 970K, so, it’s technically not even a million-dollar car. However, it’s nothing short of a legend and a true masterpiece of the automobile world. Besides, it’s been almost 25 years, so, I’m thinking these days it would cost double as much. The F1 might just be the Great Poppa of the supercars, my friends, fair and square. It comes equipped with a 6.1-lit V12 engine from BMW, and the engine bay is lined with gold-foil. It’s safe to say that the McLaren F1 had the most ground-breaking ideas in terms of design, aerodynamics, powertrain and handling. So, even if it had a price-tag of 5 million, A LOT OF auto enthusiasts would stand in line to cop it. Of the 5 supercars worth more than a million this one is the greatest one to pick, no doubt about it. I can’t even imagine how much it really costs on the collector’s market. A buddy of mine once said that the F1 had as much influence on the industry as Jackson had on pop music. Ain’t that right?
5 Supercars Worth More Than A Million – #5, The Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss
I know, it’s not really right to put something higher than the McLaren F1, but this list is not about pulling ranks – every model we’re talking about today is exceptional in its own right, so, let’s not make this a matter of personal favorites. The SLR Stirling Moss from Mercedes, Germany’s major player on the market of supercars is a million-dollar baby: this exact edition is based on the original 300 SLR and is designed by Yoon Il-Hun, a big-time Korean designer. They say there were only 75 Mosses made (that’s a strange name, don’t you think?), delivered only to the current SLR owners in Europe. The car is worth 1+ million bucks and comes with a 5.4-lit V8 that’s putting out 641 Horses, which allows for a top speed of 217 miles per hour. Furthermore, the Stirling boasts a redesigned front, different, more attractive taillights and 2 hoops on the back that add to the luxury status of this gorgeous beast. And that concludes my list of 5 supercars worth more than a million. Take care and drive safe!
