Sport cars and luxury cars might not be as big a part of our lives as they used to be back in 2000+, but we still have some pretty impressive models to admire from afar. But which one can be called the coolest car in the world?
Besides, let’s not forget rappers, actors, politicians…the usual bunch that practically keeps the market of bad-ass cars alive. If you happen to be one of them – a rich dude/gal – please hit me in the comments and tell the story about your own personal luxury car, we’ll love to hear about it 🙂
If not, let’s just take a look at the list and keep it modest, yeah? Though there are some awesome models which are not that expensive, we can also talk here about the coolest affordable cars.
Oh, and by the way, that car on the picture above is not for sale – only Batman car drive it.
But don’t you worry – we’ve got more than enough cool cars to hit that swagga meter.
Ok now, let’s see my Top 10 of the coolest cars in the world. They are not all the fastest cars but still to my mind the most awesome.
The coolest car in the world. №1 – Chevrolet Camaro 1968
Come on, even if you’re not a fan of the automobile industry and the whole “I love old-school cars” movement, you gotta at least recognize the Camaro – one of the coolest cars ever. It’s a true classic because after almost 50 years it’s still one of the fastest and worlds coolest cars. It’s also one of the biggest reasons why folks become fans of the industry in the first place, and, over the years, it starred in a lot of Hollywood movies – famous and not so much.
It’s an American muscle car to the backbone and that’s the biggest compliment for the 1968 Chevy Camaro. This coolest car comes packed with a 375 Horses-strong engine and goes from zero to 60 miles per hour in 6 seconds – that’s pretty decent even for today! And finally, if you’re a true virtuoso, then you must LOVE the sound of that engine roaring. If not, well, that just means you’re not old-school enough 🙂
The Chevy Camaro is a true legend, and it’s been around since 1966. In 2002 the company decided to cease production only to get back to it in 2009. A lot of folks forgot about this model, and the new generation didn’t really have a clue that a car like that even exists until the Camaro made its highly successful debut in Michael Bay’s Transformers back in 2007.
After that, sales sky-rocketed, and Chevy announced big things for it, including a complete redesign and all kinds of special editions.
The current 2015 model costs about 35K, and the upcoming 2016 edition looks cooler than ever. Still, that 1968 Camaro is where it all began, so, that’s why it’s number one in my list. Care to disagree? Speak up in the comments!
The coolest car ever №2 – Nissan GTR
The Japanese know how to make bad-ass coolest cars, and the Nissan GTR is no exception. It looks like a street-racer’s fantasy model and is all about speed and aerodynamics. Under the hood it’s got a mighty 545HP Twin-Turbo engine that goes from zero to 60 in less than 3 seconds.
The other great thing about the GTR is that it’s not as expensive as the other competitors from today’s bunch – the premium edition can be yours for just 100K dollars (150K for the fully-equipped edition), or even less if you know how to trade. I mean, some middle-class/semi-luxury trucks and SUVs can cost even more sometimes, so, the GTR is like a goldmine for y’all sport-car fans. Still, it’s one of the coolest cars for sale.
Furthermore, recently Nissan released the NISMO – Nissan Motors – edition, which is known as the “Godzilla”. This model is a bit wider and has a raised rear end, which adds to aerodynamics and max speed. It weights almost 3,9K pounds, so, it’s pretty impressive how the engineers managed to make it go and accelerate that fast. The NISMO GTR comes with a modified 3.8-lit V6 that’s 55 HP-stronger.
However, this edition costs almost 50% more than the standard model, without offering even a 10% increases in overall power, handling, looks or comfort level.
If you’re a pro racer, then the NISMO might just open up to you in ways you could never imagine, but if you are just a Regular Joe, then I recommend sticking with that 100K-priced GTR – you’ll still get a huge kick out of it.
№3 – Ford Fiesta… By Ken Block
Yep, you heard me – the boring family-oriented Ford Fiesta has a lot of potential for conquering those race tracks. If your name is Ken Block and you’re one of the biggest pros in the automobile industry, then you might already know that. First of all, it looks pretty cool with all that fancy design – like a true rally car. Thus it’s one of the coolest custom cars.
Second, this tiny fella comes with a monstrous engine that’s packing 660 Horses and a turbocharger.
And third, it’s equally great on the race track, on dirt, snow and the road from home to the mall. What can I say – the Fiesta knows how to impress! As for Mr. Block, he’s a champion of Rally America, World Rally team and an X-Game medalist, so, he knows how to pick them.
And the Ford Fiesta became hugely popular after he released those world-famous Gymkhana video series. In case you’re wondering, it’s not an easy job to make the middle-class Fiesta perform like that on a rally track: the car is being thoroughly examined and fine-tuned for each race, including brakes, suspension, transmission, and a whole lot of other pro-only stuff. One of the greatest things about Ken Block’s Ford Fiesta is that it’s super maneuverable, easy-going and submissive – just what the doctor ordered. Obviously, you can’t really buy this car, because, quite simply, nobody will sell it to you. On the other hand, you could always attend one of Ken’s shows and enjoy the master doing his work.
№4 – Lamborghini Aventador
Lamborghini is probably the biggest heart-breaker of them all and the coolest car ever. I for one used to dream about a Lambo back when I was a kid – I’m sure a lot of you did as well. Come on, just look at it – it’s like from a different planet, right?! And – obviously – it’s one of the fastest cars in the world and is the proud owner of a 6.5-lit engine that’s good for 691HP (that’s huge, by the way).
On the race track the Aventador is a go-getter – it goes from zero to 60MPH in 2.7 seconds and, if you push the pedal to the floor hard enough, it could probably take you to the moon and back in one piece.
It’s a pretty large vehicle, with those side skirts making it look like a space ship or something Lex Luger would drive, but, at the same time, it doesn’t feel like that on the road: it’s super agile, quick on those turns and sneaky in those tight corners, which makes it one of the greatest Lamborghini models ever. It comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission and feels really smooth and grounded.
The company released only 600 Aventadors, so, if you wanna be one of the few lucky ones to own it, you better hurry. The average price is around 400K, which makes it one of the coolest affordable sports cars in our list, right after the Nissan GT.
№5 – McLaren P1
McLaren is a legend among coolest sports cars and makes probably the coolest car in the world, and P1 is the next big thing after the famous F1. It looks even more sleek and sexy than the Lambo we just talked about and has a stronger engine – a 727HP-strong 3.8-lit V8 with twin turbos that’s good for 531 pound-feet of torque. The McLaren P1 runs from 0 to 60MPH in 2.8 seconds and does a quarter-mile in 9.8 seconds.
Plus, it can go in electric-only for quite some time, too, in case you wanna go super-quiet and them scary the hood with the roar of that mighty V8.
On the road the P1 feels amazing, almost like you’re behind the wheel of a Lotus – it’s light, nimble and agile, just perfect for an enjoyable ride early in the morning. But you’ll have to find a race-track nearby, because if you as much as touch the pedal for a couple of seconds, the car will quite literally start flying, and all the cops will start chasing you – you don’t want that, do you? 🙂
The exterior looks are astonishing, and every last detail is made in a way to make it even faster (and lighter) than it already is. From afar the P1 looks like a guest from the future, and behind the wheel, you’ll instantly get the goosebumps, trust me.
The cabin is actually really small, with little to no extra details to keep it all calm and steady.
The driver’s seat is SUPER COMFY, and the dashboard will provide you with all the techy details you’ll ever need. The interesting fact about this car is that it’s RWD (a rear wheel drive) and that means you can impress the local girls with doughnuts for as long as the tires can take it. Yep, go for it! And it’s actually pretty cheap – just 866K Euros for a wonder-car like that!
Coolest Car In The World. №6 – Veyron Bugatti
This bad-ass is a top dog. The Veyron Bugatti is one of the most recognizable cars in the world and it’s been a “guest star” in all kinds of American (and worldwide) shows like Top Gear and such. It’s actually the king of acceleration and goes from zero to 100MPH in 2.5 seconds! For example, the latest Toyota Prius does that in 11 seconds. Furthermore, it’s basically packed with two engines – a V16, which is a combo of 2 V8s – and is as strong as 1000 (that’s thousand) horses.
On the road the Veyron performs handsomely: you can almost feel the wheels touch the asphalt, and the top-quality springs, dampers, and suspension hold the car steady and give you the impression that you’re in control. I gotta warn you, though, that if you really push the pedal, the new Bugatti can go as fast as 250 miles per hour, so, watch out not to jump off the next cliff!
The only “downside” to this baby is after spending a day with it on the road, everything else seems so corny and mediocre that you’ll have to give it a week or so to get back to your regular Prius or Focus. Gotta love Bugatti! If you wanna own a car like that, you’re gonna have to invest about 2.5-3.5 million dollars, just like Floyd Mayweather did! Yep, this is the big-boy stuff – we’re talking about the most expensive and the most luxurious models today, so, the higher the price tag, the better 🙂
On the inside the Bugatti Veyron doesn’t feel as “royal” as the rest of the super-cars, and that says a lot about the marketing plan of the company: folks who can afford something like that don’t really need you to impress than with golden dashboards, silver steering wheels or something crazy like that – all they want is a touch of premium class and cozy seats 🙂 Besides, everything in the cabin is custom-made, so, you can have the team create a unique layout that only your car will have.
№7 – Hennessey Venom GT
The Venom GT might not be as popular as the Bugatti or Lambo, but it’s a mean beast, trust me. It’s from Texas, born and raised, and is as strong as 1451 Horses (a lot of horses in Texas, gotta overrun them) with a zero to 60MPH jump in 2.4 seconds and a 0-to-100MPH jump in 4.4 seconds. 0-to-200 is achieved in 12.8 seconds!
The engine is a super perfected V8 with two turbos pushing it to the limit. It’s got a max speed of 280+ miles per hour and can probably outrun a middle-class super-jet.
Right now the team behind the Venom GT promises to release 4 models for 2017, with dozens of clients already lining up for this piece of art.
And last, but not least, it’s God damn gorgeous! You’ve got custom-made wheels and rims, a fancy-yet-classic body paint, super-stylish head/taillights, a roof that can be removed with the push of a button, and all the latest technological features in the cabin. It’s a two-seater, and nothing compares to taking the person you love for a wild race around the globe. In some regards, this is the fastest car in the world, so, if you happen to have a couple of millions stashed somewhere, this might be just the right investment for you.
The coolest car ever №8 – Koenigsegg Agera R
Check out the Agera R – another beauty from the world of luxury class cars. The only downside to this masterpiece is that you can crash it as easily as enjoy it. Seriously, though, don’t crush it 🙂 It’s got a max speed of 273 mph (that’s 440 kilometers!!!) and 1.2K HP under the hood (885 pound-feet of torque). Quite a thing, huh? The company is owned by Mr. Christian von Koenigsegg, a Swedish visionary who has been dreaming about making a car like this ever since he was a child.
The Agera R is 169 inches long, 44.1 inches tall (that’s really low), and 79 inches wide – perfect dimensions for a super-car. It’s initially designed to shine on the race track, and that low-slung design, along with those big-bright headlights with LED daytime running lights, tiny side windows, and large air-vents right in front of the rear wheel only adds to the overall amazing picture.
The doors, of course, open at a 90-degree angle. The roof is removable, so, you can enjoy the summer breeze while flying down the streets of your city. I bet you didn’t know that the name Agera R means “take action” in Swedish. Well, it does, and this fierce king does so with a twin-turbocharged 5.0-lit V8 that ramps from 0 to 60MPH in 2.8 seconds!
The cabin screams luxury, and you’ve got stylish leather upholstery with contrasting stitching all over the bucket seats. The dashboard, the steering wheel (with tons of buttons and knobs) and the center console are all made of carbon fiber for additional weight reduction. A high-def touch-screen on the center stack holds every last techy feature you could think of, including navigation, climate control, USB/Bluetooth connections, the sound-system, radio, etc.
Now, even though nobody really cares about the cargo space when it comes to luxury vehicles, the Agera R has the roomiest cargo in its class – 4.2 cubic feet. Bottom line is, as far as the coolest sport cars go, the Koenigsegg Agera R is right there among the elite.
№9 – Mercedes Benz Gran Turismo
The Germans are known for their tiny bit of good crazy, and the latest Gran Turismo is right around where the “nuts” are. It’s actually not out yet, but it’s so awesome that I just couldn’t leave it be. It’s not that impressive in terms of Horsepower – got “only” 600HP – but that’s well compensated with the SUPER LIGHT body that will fly those 0 to 60 in 2.5-3 seconds.
Under the hood you’ll find a mighty 6.2-lit V8 that works in combination with stiff springs and dampers and twin aluminum wishbones. Besides, the Gran Turismo looks like a car that Martians would drive and the chrome exterior will make all the haters blink and skew. It’s definitely the coolest car ever made. By the way, this vehicle was designed by Kazunori Yamauchi – the creator of the best video game about racing – Gran Turismo 6, and it made its debut in the virtual world just recently.
As for the real world, some sources claim the Germans are about to release only 5 Merc Gran Turismos, so, it’s going to be a wild goose hunt when they hit the market.
Rumors claim they’re working in partnership with a Florida-based company – J & S Worldwide Holdings to deliver 2 for Europe, 2 for the Middle East, and 1 for America (why not 2, huh?) The wheels, obviously, will be custom-made, and the exterior will feature unique chrome paint, along with a fancy-looking rear spoiler and a custom exhaust. The body will be fully constructed from carbon fiber, and that means it’s shaping up to be even more awesome than we thought, and it could very well be the coolest looking car in the world.
As for the interior, the manufacturer says clients are free to choose whatever design/layout/color scheme they want – the engineers will hand-craft it for every single customer. So, how much for the German princess? Not much, really – “only” 1.5 million dollars! However, that’s not the officially confirmed price, so, don’t be sad: who knows, maybe the final edition will be half as expensive? Not likely, I know, but we can still hope, right?
№10 – The South African Marauder
It’s not an objective number 1, only subjective. I mean, come on, just take a good look at it – ain’t it just the coolest and baddest vehicle out there?
It’s not even close to the sports cars we just talked about in terms of speed and acceleration, but it’s not even about that.
The Marauder is a 100% real-life monster and probably your best chance to survive a zombie apocalypse. It weights 27K pounds and not even a tank can make it move.
The bottom line is, if you pack it with enough water and food, you can easily go through not only a zombie invasion but also an alien attack, nuclear Armageddon and anything else in between. Who doesn’t want to own a car like that? It’s a mine-protected (!), fully armored beast that is manufactured by the Paramount Group somewhere in the outskirts of South Africa (hence the name).
It was first revealed to the world back in 2007 during the IDEX (International Defense Exhibition) in Abu Dhabi – the biggest arms exhibition in the Middle-Eastern area.
The interior of the Marauder can easily take in as much as 10 passengers, including the man behind the wheel. Initially, this vehicle was designed for peacekeeping and reconnaissance operations, but, as it turns out, folks just love that scary-yet-sexy look! Military-grade vehicles have always been one of the hottest out there, and the Marauder takes the appeal one step further. The dimensions are 6 on 6 or 4 on 4 (depending on the type of missions it’s slated to carry out).
I have to say, that even though it’s a pretty heavy fella (27K pounds, remember?) it can go as fast as 60-75 miles per hour (that’s around 100 to 120 kilometers) and has a max range of 430 miles. And don’t even get me started on the payload capacity: the Marauder can carry all kinds of weapons/defense systems, such as light/medium-caliber machine guns, cannon weapons, and – yep – missile launchers, along with tons of surveillance, control and command systems. This model is highly popular in the military circles and one of the first customers were the Jordanian Armed Forces.
In 2011 the Marauder was featured in Top Gear – the biggest auto show in the world – and tested against the Hummer H3 (and Marauder, of course, turned out to be the absolute winner).
Ok, that’s pretty much it for today’s list – our attempt to find the coolest car in the world. As you can see, these ones are really expensive. Next time I’ll tell you about the coolest cheap cars.
