Toyota’s RAV4 is one hell of an SUV. It’s got style, edge, good performance, and great safety considerations. For a while now, this brand has been associated with quality and high-standard delivery. The RAV4 is one of the market’s stalwarts, and the spot is 100% well-earned. Toyota worked hard on the brand to take it to where it’s at right now, and they’re not gonna stop. And even though this SUV is as good as they come, there is a lot of serious competition out there, and today I want to talk to you guys about cars similar to RAV4. As I said, the rivalry is stiff, so, let’s break it down to the closest contestants.
Contestant #1 – Honda CR-V
First of all, experts like to compare the RAV4 to Honda CR-V – and for a good reason. The CR-V went through a major redesign in 2012, and is considered to be the “petty officer” of the SUV bunch. Whenever any of the big players decides to roll out a new edition of their brands, they take a thorough look at Honda’s car. It always manages to set the highest bar that only a chosen few can climb up to.
As a matter of fact, some critics consider the RAV4 a better choice, as it’s a bit more appealing in terms of comfort and safety. Everybody got his/her pick, I guess; the fact is, if you don’t really wanna get into too much technical details, just know, that they carry pretty much the same value, and, if you wanna cop a shiny new SUV, you won’t go wrong, as long as you go with either one of these. The price for both the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 is roughly the same -around 30-32K.
Contestant #2 – Mazda CX-5
Another great contestant in the huge SUV segment is Mazda’s CX-5. This one made some buzz lately with the racecar-like shifter approach, but, that doesn’t mean that it can outrun the first two brands in a jiffy – not at all. It’s still a standard SUV – it’s not even close to a fuel-guzzling sports car. That said, the CX-5 still manages to squeeze that juice out of the powertrain. It’s got a 2.5-lit 4-cyl engine, that’s capable of 184HP (The CR-V provides 185, and the RAV provides 176), and is hooked up to a 6-speed automatic transmission. And overall, Mazda’s CX-5 is a solid SUV – you got a spacious, beautiful interior, a good-looking exterior, leather seats, climate control, and keyless ignition – all of the great perks of technology.
Other Cars Similar To Rav4
I could go on and on with the Cars Similar To Rav4 list, but, the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 are considered to be the main rivals of Toyota’s RAV4, so, those were my cars of choice for today. If you’re looking for other cars similar to Rav4, make sure to check out Ford Escape, Nissan Rogue, and Jeep Cherokee. Those are some great SUVs, but, again, not that close to the RAV4 as Honda’s and Mazda’s brands.
So, to sum up: each one of today’s contestants has its own unique approach and philosophy, its own good sides, and bad sides. They’re all good picks, but my money is on the RAV.
