Hey there, folks! How’s everybody doing? Good? Ok, that’s what I like to hear. As you all know, I’m a big cars fan, especially the Toyota brand. I’ve spent pretty much my whole adult life obsessing over the automobile industry. But today, I want to tell you a story about my first car – a story about my early days, when I was in high-school, and my Dad bought me a 1996 Toyota Tacoma. Oh yeah, Tacoma was as hot back then, as it is now. No, actually it was WAY hotter. Especially for me, an 18-year old guy from the smallest state in Northeast of America.
Happiest Day In My Life
So, the year was 1998, I was at school, acting a fool with my buddies, nothing special. But, when I got home, my Dad told me, out of the blue, that we (that’s right, we – me and him) are were buy a new car tomorrow. To say that I was excited is to say nothing at all. I remember that feeling of joy, and pride at the same time, like it was yesterday. Ok, so, as I told you before, my big and bright family always had a thing for cars, especially the Toyota brand. And ever since I was a kid, like, 4 years old or so, I spend around cars even more time, that I did at the playground. But this was different. When my Dad told me, that he’s taking me with him, I already knew, what that meant – I’m was gonna own a car. My first car.
Now, I have to point out, that this was really generous of my Dad, ’cause all the other dudes around town, even college students, had some pieces of junk as their first cars, but, not me. My story about the first car was like a dream come true. Nedless to say, the Tacoma was pretty expensive, even though it was 2 years old, and had some mileage. You know, the guy who sold it to us got really surprised, when he learned, who the car was for. To be honest, I was too. And I just want to thank my Dad for that right now, and tell you guys, that I appreciate it to this very day.
Mr. Big Shot
So, in the morning, I put on my best shirt, my favorite sneakers, and was ready to become a “Big Fella”, like my mom used to say. We went to the nearest dealer, took the car for a spin, and that was it – my Dad bought it. There was some paper signing, I had to go though some tests, and get my drivers license, but after all that, the Tacoma was mine. I was never a shy guy at school, actually, I was pretty popular (that’s the truth – ask my friends about it). But when the Tacoma came along, my life became something else.
I spend days, weeks, just playing with its controls, fiddling with the exterior, and messing around with the engine. I took the pretty girls home, took the cool guys to football games, and I drove around by myself for hours, listening to favorite bands – I did everything I wanted, and that was pure fun. Yeah, those were some wonderful times. We spend 8 whole years together, me and the Taco (that’s what I called the car), and after that, I gave it to my little brother. And he was even more excited, than I was back in the day. You can call that family tradition – passing along Toyota cars to each other, as a sign of love, care, and that you are a man now.
So, that was the story about my first car. It’s a very personal story for me, and I want to thank you guys for letting me share it with you.
