Hey, if you’re in a mood to have a chat about a hot new vehicle from the near future, you’re in the right place. I’ve got just the car you’re looking for – the 2017 Toyota 4Runner. Experts in the industry say that this is gonna be Toyota’s heavy-weight fighter of choice in the competition with the rivals in the SUV market. That’s great news. The 4Runner had big success over the last few years, and with the 2017 edition, Toyota is gonna make a lot of buzz around town.
According to numerous rumors circling around the web and in the expert circles, Toyota, the Japanese manufacturer, may very well be about to introduce the newest 2017 4runner, and, if you believe the rumors, a full redesign is gonna be very soon.

The Toyota 4Runner was initially designed to be a king of the off-road journeys, and, judging by the huge sales and customer love, it truly is one of the best vehicles for conquering the wild nature.
So, as you will learn from this review, the 4Runner is definitely one to watch out for and to keep an eye on. Not a lot of people know that it was first introduced to the world in 1984, and that’s long before the Tacoma came around. Oh yeah, it’s got about 30 years of experience behind it’s back, and is now set to go even further in 2017. The brand’s strongest sides are, above all, the good looks and powerful performance. And that’s what makes the 4Runner stand out in the very crowned SUV segment of the market.
Who’s Gonna Win The Medal?
All the previous models made a solid, loyal fan-base, and all the new kid on the block has to do, is to keep up the good family tradition. That doesn’t mean, that it’s gonna be easy, because there’s a lot of competition in the segment, and some serious, stiff challenges are ahead of us. But, we all know, that Toyota is not the company to just hand over such a big piece of the pie, so, expect a good fight. And, by the way, my money’s on the 4Runner.
Now, if you’re one to believe rumors and stories, than you must know, that there’s a lot of talk in the industry regarding the launch date of the 2017 Toyota 4Runner. Some say, it’s just around the corner. I think that we can expect a slightly redesigned, definitely improved version of this fella, with special emphasis on the off-road performance.
2017 Toyota 4Runner: Redesign vs. Re-polish
So, while there’s a big time cloud of mystery around the 2017 Toyota 4Runner, I predict some significant changes in exterior and overall design. Now, me personally, I love the old version of Toyota’s SUV, I love pretty much everything about it.
Some good buddies of mine managed to find some hints about the overall body design of the new model. They’ve got some low-quality photos that are – allegedly – picturing the 2017 edition in its full glory. Judging from those photos, I can tell you that, as expected, the exterior will not be significantly redesigned. Still, to avoid confusion with the 2016 model, Toyota is going to introduce a couple of significant updates to actually be able to call it a 2017 model, like a redesigned front fascia, perfected headlights, as well as additional lights on the front grille with LED illumination and a pair of advanced Xenon fog lights. Plus, Toyota is putting a luggage carrier on the roof.
There’s a lot of buzz in the internet about Toyota trying to decrease the weight of the car. If they manage to do that, the 4Runner is gonna gain more handling and a fuel consumption bonus. That’ll make it almost an ideal SUV.
While the exterior will most likely remain generally untouched, the interior is expected to go through some major changes. To tell the truth, it’s been a while since Toyota introduced something really new to the interior, and I’m hoping that they will finally incorporate at least a couple of little updates to keep the cab fresh and exciting for the 2017 model year. The official statement claims the 2017 4Runner will be a truly up to date SUV, packed with a lot more modern tech and equipment as compared to the previous edition. That’s pretty cool, right?
What I mean by that, is we are all expecting to see more of the latest technological features and equipment that will make our time with the car even more enjoyable, like a 15-speaker JBL audio system, a great 7-inch display, brand-new leather seats, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear view camera and forward traffic warning. The higher trim levels will feature climate control, a telescoping steering wheel, an air conditioner, heated seats, traction control, 8 (!) airbags, Star Safety and Tire Pressure monitoring systems, and more.
In addition, the seats are gonna be improved a lot, making your time with the car most enjoyable. Another cool fact about the seats: two of the rear seats will be completely foldable which will open up a very big cargo space of around 50 cubic feet. With the seats down the 2017 4Runner will have enough space for 8 passengers.
Anyhow, with the brand doing so good right now, my guess is the community is gonna accept the new 4Runner with open arms, as long as it will have even the tiniest improvements. But that’s actually like walking on thin ice – because of the competition being as strong as ever, like the Nissan Pathfinder and the Honda HR-V – and that’s why I bet Toyota will not be satisfied with just a couple of minor updates and is preparing something major for 2017. Most likely the new edition will be available in 4 trim levels, including SR5, Trail, Limited and TRD Pro.
Engine Specs For The Newest 2017 4Runner
Despite the fact that nobody has any legit information about the engine specs for the 2017 4Runner, it’s safe to say that Toyota is gonna pack this beast with everything they’ve got, and not only because it’s an off-road-friendly SUV, but also because that’s what the fans are chanting for. Thus, judging by the powertrain of the 2016 edition, some folks claim that the new 4Runner will not disappoint and will feature a 4.0-lit V6 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. This mighty powertrain will be good for 270 HP and 278 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, many believe that we will get an even mightier V8 with AWD. The hauling might will be somewhere around 5000 pounds.
No official MPG stats are out yet (it’s probably gonna be around 17 mpg on highways and about 20 in the city) but, again, I think the fuel-efficiency will be roughly the same as with the previous model. Besides, at the end of the day, not a lot of folks are interested in fuel economy when buying an SUV. All they want is that roar of the mighty engine to scare all the birds in the forest. So, if you’re one of those people who put the strong HP and acceleration before anything else, then the 2017 4Runner is gonna be the perfect SUV for you.
Release Date And The Price Tag
It’s true that you can’t really believe all the rumors and speculations about the release date of any upcoming brand. However, as we know, Toyota has been developing the 2017 edition for a while now, so, that means it will be out sooner than later. My best guess is – we’ll see this big guy by the end of 2016.
As for the price of 2017 Toyota 4Runner, it’s gonna be somewhere between 30 (for the base model) and 45K (for the highest trims).
